TRANSPORT

• The organizers do not offer any transport from the airports and event centers to the competition areas.  To contract transportation services from airports and bicycle rental (in addition to the complete management of the trip and accommodation from the origin) we recommend contacting this company: https://theosados.com/

• We recommend car rental (extra cost) in the Alicante or Corvera airports as the best way to get around during the event.

• Parking for motorhomes: Participants who will arrive with motorhomes will be able to park at designated places:

From Wednesday 30 April (check-in at 12:00) to Sunday 4 May (check-out at 11:00), the organisation provides  runners  with 46 places in a hostel in the countryside, close to all the competition centres, for a single price of 40€, regardless of the days you want to stay at the hostel. 

The hostel has 5 rooms with 6 bunk beds and 2 rooms with 8 bunk beds without sheets and towels. Please contact the hostel directly for these services (extra cost to be paid directly to the hostel). Bathrooms are shared.

CLASSES & PARTICIPACION

• Winning times are similar to those proposed by IOF guidelines.

• WMMTBOC Classes: 

  • W/M 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85 and M90.

• Two adjacent classes in the same decade can be merged if either or both have fewer than 5 entries. W/M 70 and older keep the 5 year steps independent onregistered starters. Participation in WMMTBOC is open to all competitors according to their age classes.

• Participants in the M/F-35 WMMTBOC2025 categories in the long and/or sprint races will also score for the IOF WRE.

• Competitors participate at their own risk. Third party insurance and personal injury insurance is compulsory and shall be the responsibility of their federation or themselves, according to national regulations. The Organizer will provide first aid at the competition centre and at the arenas of each event. The Organizer will not bear costs connected to the health insurance of foreign participants.

RULES

The WMMTBOC 2025 will be organized in accordance with the Orienteering Competition Rules for IOF MTB Orienteering Events 2025.

• Use of cycling helmets is compulsory. 

• Bicycle must be with the competitor all the time. 

• Competitor found moving without his/her bicycle will be disqualified.

• It is forbidden to use main roads marked with red crosses or zig-zag lines.

• Competitors must follow traffic rules.

• WMMTBOC 2025 will follow the International Specification for MTB Orienteering Maps ISMMTBOM 2023.

• Riding off track:

  •  It is generally forbidden to leave the tracks. Exceptions are the samples underneath. Any violation will be punished with disqualification by controllers. More information in the section RIDING OFF TRACK.

• Deviation from ISMTBOM 2022 Review 3 April 2024:

• Sprint Race scale will be 1:4,000 and Distance between north lines corresponds to 250 meters on the ground.

• Symbol 717 (Passable Obstacle) together with symbol 532 (Stairs) are used to warn about being careful when going down the stairs.

•  Symbol 717 size has been reduced for better map readability

• Circles of Symbols 515 and 513 have been removed for better readability

• Controls and order number size will be 4mm for all scales for better readability.

• High voltage power lines will not be drawn.

EMBARGOED AREAS

• The embargo is in place until after the WMTBOC2025. The areas marked on the map are embargoed for all orienteering activities, unless specifically permitted by the organizers. The embargoed areas are out of bounds for all potential participants and team members, including competitors, team coaches, manager or anyone associated the team/individual.

• Any permission for access into embargoed areas must be requested from the organizers, if needed and before access. This includes also if there are any MTB events taking place in the embargoed areas and potential competitors wish to participate. The embargo includes the use of drones in or above the terrain.

TIMEKEEPING SYSTEM

• SPORTident Air+ will be used in all competitions.

• All competitors will have to use an Active Card (SIAC). Rental will be possible.

• The runner who does not provide a SIAC card number will be assigned a rental card and must pay the rental fee.

• When collecting the Sportident card, a deposit of €72 (minus the rental fee paid) must be made by credit or debit card. This deposit will be refunded upon return of the SIAC card.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

You do not need a visa if you come from EU or Schengen area country. Other international travellers may be required to hold a Spain visa prior to travel to Spain depending on your country of residence. For more information, please see the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain:

ANTI-DOPING

• Doping is strictly forbidden. The IOF Anti-Doping Rules apply to WMMTBOC2025.

• The organizers of WMMTBOC2025 are dedicated to supporting the anti-doping authorities in their work.

•  Doping controls may be carried out at any time during the competition period. As some sites for doping controls may be a few minutes’ drive away, we suggest that athletes are prepared at all events to take along some dry clothes to change into after their race.

• Doping tests are always carried out in accordance with the procedures described in the WADA International Standard of testing.

• Athletes who are selected for the doping tests must bring an official identification (with photo) to the doping test area. Accreditation cards with photos can also be used for this purpose. The athlete should also bring along their therapeutic use exemption (TUE) if applicable. In general, it is advisable that the athletes bring along their ID to all the competitions and events.
